Bio - Artist Dawn Rossbach

Dawn Rossbach

Printmaker, Painter, Illustrator

Most of Rossbach's work is inspired by personal experiences or immediate surroundings.  It can be inspired by just about anything and from there she may create several versions before it's exhausted as a subject matter, working to create a version to meet her standards or sometimes to satisfy the need to experience the act of creating.

Working mostly with printmaking, painting, and mixed media, Rossbach state she is moving from realism in some areas to more expressive works through the use of brighter colors or adding a little more humor with a tongue-in-cheek approach as a means to balance out the craziness of what we call life.  Some works are an exploration of a new approach to printmaking using a digital process to create the image and plate but using a very traditional printmaking process to pull the prints.  For other works, sticking with tried and true traditional methods like using acids to create copper etching plates or carving wood or linoleum to create a plate for printing.

Rossbach illustrated the children's book The Cookie Garden, along with her art exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally. Several of her prints are included in private and university-owned collections.
